Kei glared at Chiwi at her response to him walking so far from them. He seethed silently, and it almost seemed like he was in fact hissing under his breath. Quickly, he looked away, trying to control his rising anger. Something about how she acted towards him... that caring glance. It bothered him.
"I don't trust anyone... So why would I trust you?!" he spoke, his voice growing cold, and beginning to have that acidic tone to it.
He growled lightly, keeping his distance from the both of them. Once that distance was kept, they continued.

"Hey!" Zairu said sharply, "There's no need to get all nasty, Kei. We're just trying to be nice. I mean, after all, you did spring us out of that hell-hole; I think Chi and I trust you after that. I don't blame you, persay, about not trusting us, 'cause we just met, but don't go lashing out on Chi just because she cares. So lay off the bad-ass routine, would ya?"
Her tail flicked angrily side to side while her ears twitched irritatingly. She did not like it when someone attacked her friends, both verbally and physically, even if that said person had just saved them from who knew what.
She sighed and flipped her hair out of her face, clearly in a foul mood over the confrontation. "Come on. The sooner we find Rukino, the better."

"Whatever." Kei replied, having ignored the majority of Zairu's rebuke, " And for the record, I didn't SAVE you. You two followed me arou-" Kei stopped short, his eyes going blank for a minute.
[shadow=red,left,300]Must you be so rude to our guests?[/shadow]
Guests? Feh. More like intruders.
[shadow=red,left,300]Aww, sounds like someone's in a bad mood~[/shadow]
I need no sarcasism from you. What do you want?
[shadow=red,left,300]Just a little torture, that's all....Heh heh heh...[/shadow]
Whatever.
Kei snapped out of his wordless, actionless state, his eyes taking on their color again. Again he looked away from the two females, closing his eyes as his head angled downwards.
.....When will I....finally be alone....?..

Calmly, Chiwi listened to Zairu's defense, but did not have anything else to add. As her friend's tail danced side to side in anger, she laid a reassuing hand on Zairu's arm.
Just as her friend was finished, and had decided to resume their search for Rukino, Kei started to retort. Looking back at him, he suddenly stopped short, his eyes going blank.
Either something's wrong, or he just doesn't want to argue any more... She thought about inquiring, but she remembered his earlier reaction and hesitated. Just as she thought to ask, he snapped back. As he looked away, she shrugged slightly, frowning, and pulled Zairu with her, so they could continue onwards.

Chiwi's reassuring hand had a calming effect on her. Her ears were soon upright again and her tail stopped it's snapping action and went back to it's playful swing as she walked with her normal gait.
"Alright Chi. I'll be nicer." She murmured, sticking her hands into her pockets of what was left of her shredded jeans.
Kei's voice on how he hadn't meant to save them didn't make her head turn, what surprised her the most was when he stopped in mid-sentence and took on a blank stare. Like he was communicating with someone. She saw that Chiwi thought it odd too and was about to ask him what troubled him when he snapped out of it and looked to the ground, refusing eye contact.
This is the strangest boy I have ever seen. I can't decide whether to be thankful, annoyed, or concerned with him. He's like a loose rocket.

Kei looked up, noticing that both girls stared at him in a state of confusion. He flinched a little under their eyes, and felt the piercing of them as well.
"Wh-What the hell are you looking at?!" He replied angrily, baring his teeth in an animalistic glare. Quickly he realized he was only attracting more attention to himself, and looked away... Silently wishing these two girls hadn't stumbled in and torn his way of life apart....

Turning from him, Chiwi casualy replied, "Only one of the most interesting people I've ever met." Looking over at Zairu, she then glanced back at Kei really quick.
"Come on, you guys! Let's not forget what we are doing," she said, grabbing a hold of Zairu's hand, she marched forward, bringing her friend whether she liked it or not.
He really should be around people more; he does not how to react to our presence. Maybe he'll get used to it after a while...

Kei stopped for a while, not knowing there was a slight blush on his cheeks. He paused, waiting for the words to register in his mind. But oddly, they wouldn't. Chiwi thought he was interesting, that had to mean something, right? Strangely enough, the only words that left his mouth were,
"Eh...uh...wh-wha?"
When Chiwi finished her second sentence, it gave him enough time to forget her words and remember the whole reason he was out there. To find Chiwi's sister and send them home.
[shadow=red,left,300]They will be gone shortly, such a pity. I was beginning to like them.[/shadow]
Stay out of this. They're my responsibility now.

"Eh...uh...wh-wha?" was all Kei managed to spit out in response to her words. In all honesty, Chiwi was herself a bit shocked at her own words, and her cheeks took a slight red hue, which she tried to disguise from the others.
After they got going, Chiwi tried to carefully explain herself, "Well... uhh... I can't say that either one of us has ever seen anyone quite like yourself." Her statement seemed satisfying enough, even though her mind nagged her in a teasing manner. You know its more than just that. Why don't you just say it? Are you afraid?
However, she just brushed the thought aside, and continued along the way. Mumbling mostly to herself, she said, "I can't wait to see Rukino again... I'm hungry..."

Zairu was surprised at Chiwi's response to the caustic remark. She looked equally surprised when Kei seemed just as dumbfounded and stuttered out an incoherent statement of "wha?", instead of the usually readied insult to hurl back at them.
"Well... uhh... I can't say that either one of us has ever seen anyone quite like yourself." Chiwi continued as Zairu watched both of them in silence as they continued their trek; not much of a choice since Chiwi was pulling her by her hand. Zairu noticed though, that Chiwi's hand had gone a little cold, but was sweating. She raised a brow as inquiry and was met with a distinctive blush.
"I can't wait to see Rukino again... I'm hungry..." She heard her friend mutter.
Zairu looked back at Kei, then back at Chiwi before it nailed her in the head. She gave a little knowing smile, her eyes glittering mischievously as the puzzle was pieced together within her mind.
Oooo...I wonder how Rukino going to react if she finds out. Zairu, of course, wouldn't be the one to tell. Rukino would have to find out herself, but it wouldn't take long with Rukino's senses always on the look-out for possible trouble for her younger sibling. Poor guys.

Kei sighed heavily, now at a loss of words. It didn't seem to matter since Chiwi kept trying to explain the meaning behind the words she had spoken moments earlier. Somehow, her explanation angered him. He growled lowly, before picking up the pace to reach them. Silently, he grabbed her free arm, pulling her attention towards him. He was still growling, eyes turning red in anger, while skin crunched up from the raised position of the muscles as he barred his teeth.
"You think it's a priveledge, or something special to know me?! Interesting?! What the hell is so INTERESTING about me?! TO YOU AND EVERYONE ELSE, I'M JUST ANOTHER SUBJECT! ANOTHER HUMAN LIFE SACRIFICED FOR SCIENCE! IS THAT INTERESTING TO YOU?!?!!" Kei shouted, his voice loud and demanding. His hand gripped Chiwi's wrist tightly, being with larger hands and an anger to match.
Kei stopped for a minute, looking down enough so that his bangs covered the majority of his face. He was frustrated, several months of anger compelled into one outburst had drained much of his energy. With one movement, he released her, letting her arm fall before retracting his own. He became completely silent, turning around and walking away, though staggering just a little but not enough to really notice. As he walked, his eyes became blank again, while his head remained down.
What's going on...?
[glow=red,2,300]Why ask me? I do not know all that goes on in you. Remember, I share this body as well.[/glow]
I know.....And you're such a pain...
When Kei regained conscious thought, he began to cling to his head as a sharp pain started to course through. He groaned barely, trying to ignore the pain as much as possible and make sure that neither of them noticed. He groaned louder, walking faster in an attempt to put distance in between them.
Just leave me alone.... Tell them to leave me alone... I don't want anyone near me!

The hairs on her neck raised in slight fear as Kei grabbed her arm. Pulling against him slightly, she found she could not break his grip. Wincingly, she listened to him shout, flinching slightly as he raised his voice.
"You think it's a privilege, or something special to know me?! Interesting?! What the hell is so INTERESTING about me?! TO YOU AND EVERYONE ELSE, I'M JUST ANOTHER SUBJECT! ANOTHER HUMAN LIFE SACRIFICED FOR SCIENCE! IS THAT INTERESTING TO YOU?!?!!"
When he released her arm, she let it fall to her side, as she gazed at him in a stunned amazement. For a moment or two, her eyes stayed affixed on the air before her, even though he had abandoned it.
Suddenly, she spun around and, seeing him walking off, started to follow him. Stammering slightly, she cried out, "I'm sorry if I said something wrong! Just come back! I meant it in a good way, I honestly did!"
However, he just quickened his pace, putting more distance between them. Speeding up as well, Chiwi shouted a little, "Hey! Come back!"

Kei faintly heard Chiwi's calls, his mind absorbed in his own twisted emotions. Kei's eyes remained blank for a while longer, before they began to dilute into his regular eyes. From there, his senses were heightened, and only the last sentence Chiwi spoke reached him.
" Hey! Come back!" she said. Kei guessed she was asking and not demanding his return. He stopped for a minute, clutching his head where the pain had become unbearable.
Silently, he turned, leaving his hand where it lay. His eyes were now an unfamiliar pale grey, and his expression had a look of pain mingled with slight anger.
What's giving me this headache?!
[glow=red,2,300] May be you are hungry..[/glow]
That's not funny! Shut up!
Kei winced when the pain shot from his head down to his chest. Within seconds he was on his knees, trying to breathe in more of the oxygen needed. Silently, he clung to his chest in an attempt to stop the pain, but to no avail. Quickly he retched up blood, the same with the familiar acidic tone to it as it hit the ground with a hiss. From that point, his body began to slow down. He could breathe normally, but the pain remained.
Quietly, he forced himself into a sitting position, in enough time to see Chiwi running towards him before he went unconscious.

A horrible growl rumbled in Zairu's chest as her tail puffed out and her ears flattened menacingly to her head. Who the hell did he think he was grabbing Chiwi like that!? Her canines flashed as the growl was released and escaped from its confines and she ran forward.
"Chiwi! Are you okay?" She asked, looking at her friend's vacant stare before turning her wrath at the culprit, the air seeming to change and vibrate from her anger.
"Hey, Kei! Who the f--" She hissed before she stopped in midsentence and her walking slowed, watching as he fell to the ground and wretched up blood. An acrid smell invaded her sense, causing her to bring a clawed hand to her face, her eyes watering from the vapors.
She ran forward with Chiwi as he slipped into unconsciousness, kneeling over to check whether he was alive or dead.
"Dammit, Kei. Stop doing stuff like this so I can stay mad for longer than five seconds!" She said, her forehead wrinkling in concern as she brushed her hand over his forehead, noting the warm temperature that was quickly escalating. Leaning forward a bit, she could hear the rasping in his chest, though he was breathing normally, the acid having destroyed the tissue of the lungs quite a bit to make it quite painful to breathe.
"Chi! Do you see anything that we could use as temporary shelter?" She asked, noting her friend's concern over Kei, and looking around as well .

By the time she had reached him, Kei had collapsed into unconsciousness, with a puddle of blood on the ground before him. She slid to a halt as she arrived to his crumpled figure on the ground, and leaned over him for a moment, sitting back up as Zairu showed up.
Dancing around anxiously as her friend inspected Kei, she looked here and there then back again, unable to sit still through the tension. As Zairu inquired about a place to put Kei, Chiwi studied her surroundings more carefully this time, but the only appropriate place she saw to take him was a large shade tree.
After gesturing to Zairu, the pair moved him under the tree. After he was placed in a comfortable looking way, Chiwi gently poked him on the arm and looked at him. Then, taking a few steps away, she plopped down in the grass, looking around and occasionally back at him, waiting for him to wake up.
