A gentle humming noise eminated from behind closed doors. Whispers and whimpers echoed throughout the room, resonating from the metal and glass chambers in the room.
"State their progress, commander." a gruff voice spoke, standing behind a figure at a computer terminal.
"Sir. They have passed phases one, two and three sir. Final phase is in progress. If they survive this, then we are successful." the figure replied, typing wildly at the terminal.
"Understood. I expect a full detailed report within the limit of three hours. Report back to me should they fail." the gruff voice said, turning before the figure spoke.
"Sir, where shall we place them once the final phase is completed?...If they survive" the figure asked, turning to look at the one with a gruff voice.
"I will send the directions once they have passed." he replied, walking away from the lab and into the dark hallways....
-back in the lab-
"Whoa...never knew the Dr. was so interested in this project. Who would suspect the Noikero company of this?" a voice spoke.
"Heh. No kidding." the one at the terminal replied completing his job and leaning back, yawning. "Man, I'm beat. I can't wait to turn in this lame report and go to bed."
"Yeah...Well I'll see ya later. I'm off. Ja~"

"RUN FOR IT!!" shouted a voice, followed by a huge explosion. The figure turned about to look behind him, blue bangs hiding his right eye cautiously. He stopped, waiting for a family of three to run past him, spreading his arms out in a protective position.
Soon a figure began to emerge from the rubble, the fake skin torn from it's limbs, showing the metal and wires that regulated all processes. A faulty android.
"This is what you called me for? Heh. So simple...I could do this in my sleep." the blue-haired one spoke, lightly tapping onto a side-pouch, prompting it to pop out. From inside he pulled out a small device that seemed much like a remote, but with too many buttons to have a purpose for any television.
Silently he imputed a code, laying it onto the ground. A shrill noise filled the air within seconds, causing the android to stop all processes. The figure picked the device back up, pocketing it before heading towards the family.
"Seems the android needed a system file. I've cleaned out all faulty files and prompted a system shutdown. When it restarts take it to the nearest repair station for new cables and ....well skin....unless you want it to look like that.." the figure stopped looking back at the android, "Uhh..yeah. Also...the damage....no need to worry about that. It was fault of the company, I will see to it that it is repaired." the figure finished, giving a smile before leaving.

In a distant place, water dripped slowly from a leaky pipe, slowly splashing down to form a puddle. Twitching slightly, Chiwi's ears began to pick up that sound. Grumbling, she turned over and covered her ears, to no avail.
Her eyes hesitantly fluttered open, and she looked around. As she sat up, she frowned, thinking to herself, This is...strange... I don't remember being here... She felt her breathes come in shorter and faster as her panic began to rise.
Jumping up she spun around, further surveying her surroundings. She began to shake uncontrollably as she looked around the small, dark room. There was no furniture; she had been sleeping on the floor. With no windows, the only light came through a small window in the door, which was covered in bars.
She stepped slowly backwards until her back was against the wall. Running her fingers through her hair nervously, she felt something unusual. Feeling around, she discovered there were two. Cat ears? Since when do I have cat ears?!
Trembling, she folded her arms across her chest and sank to the floor. Looking down at her hands, she saw that her fingertips now had small claws protruding from the ends. Black patterns danced across the backs of her hands and up and down her arms. Looking closer, she found that they were all over her body. Raking her hands along her arms and legs in disbelief, her eyes were as wide as possible.
What is this? Some sort of terrible nightmare?! But...it seems so real.... Quickly, she pinched herself roughly to see if she would wake, but all it accomplished was that her arm was stinging. Then...somehow, that means that.... this must be real...
As she realized what that must mean, terror seized her and she let out a blood-curdling scream. Screaming loud and long, her lungs burned for air and she leaned forward, placing both hands on the cold floor, panting. As soon as she had enough air, she screamed again and again, until her surroundings became fuzzy and suddenly her head slammed into the floor, unconscious.

A blood-curdling scream echoed and bounced off the walls as it quickly made its way into the cell next door. The scream pierced into the muddled mind of its occupant whose eyes snapped open.
"Chiwi!" Zairu gasped as she quickly jumped up from the cot of where she'd laid unconscious. Just as quickly, she sat heavily down from the blood rush, the springs squeaking in protest against such a rash action. Putting a hand to her face, her eyes closed, she fought against the spots that danced in front of her. More screams soon followed and Zairu wished that they would stop; her friend's cries were too much to bear. It was if her wish was granted, for they abruptly ceased.
An eerie silence followed, the sound of dripping water magnified by the stillness. Opening her eyes, she gave a startled gasp. Curtaining her face was her hair…and her hair was white! Running a hand through her hair to look at all of it, she made another startling discovery, her ears were on the top of her head and they were pointy, like a dog’s. She chewed her lip nervously, bringing a stinging pain and startled yip from her; she tasted blood as she brought her hand to lightly touch her teeth. Her canines…were sharp, too sharp for a human mouth. Her eyes traveled to her hand and her breathing started to come more rapidly. Her nails weren’t nails, they were claws, and on her arms were stripes that ran throughout her body in a dizzying dance. Something twitched against her leg and...what the hell!? A tail!?
A cold sweat broke out on her body as she slowly came to realization. Those scientists…those people who had taken them to do horrible things…they had given them…features of animals. They weren’t fully human anymore! Her ears flattened and a menacing growl rumbled in her chest as she shook with uncontainable rage. With a piercing yowl, her fists slammed into the concrete that made her prison, leaving little hairline cracks behind.
She didn’t want to believe it, it wasn’t true…but it was. It was the horrible truth; she wasn’t her anymore, she was someone else. Looking like this, could anyone still accept that she was Zairu? What about her parents? What would they think about their daughter looking like this? Curling up into a corner that was hidden from view, should anyone peer in, Zairu cried.

Shaking her head slightly, Chiwi flexed her fingers before slowly pushing herself to her feet. As she did so, she picked up on the sound of sobbing. Moving to the other end of the room, from which the crying was emanating, Chiwi laid a large, fuzzy ear against the wall.
"Zairu? Is that you?!" She asked deploringly. Without waiting for further confirmation, she began to rant desperately. "Oh Zairu, have they done to you what they have done to me?! I'm... not even human anymore! I have claws and big ears and a tail... and you should see my hair! The ends have all turned black... and the markings... all over my skin..."
Curling up with her back against the wall, with her tail touching her nose, she whimpered before continuing urgently and quietly, "What are we supposed to do now?" Then, tears began to run down her face uncontrollably.

Zairu, with some difficulty, stopped crying as she heard the urgency in her friend's voice. Wiping away the tears with the back of her hand, thinking absently of how red her eyes probably were, she pressed an ear against the wall to hear Chiwi's muffled voice better.
"What are we supposed to do now?"
Such a simple question, yet difficult to answer. Zairu, usually at least having a crazy notion to propose, was stumped. She lifted her head away from the wall and stared up at the ceiling. The light illuminating the cell flickered every now and then, but Zairu refused to look away from the otherwise glaring light.
"I don't know." She whispered, knowing that even through the thick concrete Chiwi could hear her. She then continued with a louder voice that quivered from confusion and rage, "I don't even know why we're here. Why did they take us, do this to us? It doesn't make sense!"
She gripped the sides of her head in frustration while her forehead pressed into her knees. Why? Chiwi and her were just normal teenagers. What had they done for this to have happened to them?

Kei sighed, due to the expenses the android had cost him, he was miles away from an atm and having no cash on him, could not get a bus ride back. Luckily for him, there was a village nearby where he could associate with a friend of his father. Reiji was his name? It had been so long since they had last met.
Kei grumbled a little, since walking was not one of his favorite past times. After a mile or so, he finally stopped to rest....Or so he made it look. He sat on a rock, flat on one side, jagged in some places on the other. As he sat, concentrated in thought, news began to arise.
At a blink, his right eye had changed from their normal grey to a computer green, white text flowing across it in numerals at odd intervals, and sometimes in just plain letters.
"This can't be....this project was supposedly suspended due to the uncertainty of the chemicals used... Their genetic code.......What has he done this time...." Kei mumbled, shaking his head. He stood up, looking over in the distance to where his friend lived.
"Reitsu, you will help me stop his plans on making humans his little toys...." he spoke, running quickly to his destination.

Faint footsteps echoed from further down the hallway, Zairu's ears twitched in their direction with her head turning a few seconds after. The footsteps were of multiple people from the way some scuffed the ground, some were light, and others heavy, but all were coming quickly. It grew louder and she soon heard the hushed murmurs of the people; abruptly they ceased altogether.
Zairu's curiosity overcame her gloomy mindset of her predicament. Standing up, she slowly crept to the door and peered through the little barred window. A frightened snarl escaped from her as she jumped back from the sudden gleam of many eyes upon her.
Painful memories came flooding back as the smell and sight of them brought back what had befallen her and Chiwi. They were the ones that had done this to them. They were ones who had taken away their lives and possibly their humanity.
"It seems the specimen has adapted to its modifications quite well." Said one scientist as he and the others jotted down notes.
"Indeed, the specimen seems to be experiencing no side effects as previous ones." Agreed another.
"I have a name you know. It's Zairu." Zairu's anger had overcome her previous shock, "Why'd you do this to us? What gave you the right!?"
"I believe the more extensive experimentation can commence." Said a third, a female scientist, giving no acknowledgment to Zairu's outburst.
"Yes. Now let us see about the other specimen." Replied a fourth.
"Don't you dare touch her!" Zairu flung herself at the door, a clawed hand darting out to try and injure one. The quickly stepped back.
"If you may get this one please." Said the first toward two big, muscular guards who were equipped with electric rods, collars with serial numbers on them, and many chains. There were two other guards such as they who continued down with the other scientists, "Please subdue and try not to injure the specimen."
Zairu gave a yelp, quickly retreating her arm, as one of the guards used the electric rod. Christ, that had hurt! Her ears laid back on her head threateningly, a growl rumbling in her chest as the door unlocked and the two guards came in. One had unstrapped a collar while the other pointed his electric rod at Zairu.
Her heart was pounding in her ears as adrenaline rushed throughout her body. It was either fight or flight and Zairu wanted flight. She needed to get to where Chiwi was. Together, they could probably take on these blockheads no problem.
Feinting a right, Zairu dashed to the left as the guard fell for her ploy. Racing around the other, she dashed to the door. She was going to make it!
A sudden yank of her hair stopped her cold as a heavy body tackled her to the ground. Roaring in anger, she thrashed violently as her head was pushed roughly to the ground and the collar was clasped around her neck. Electric jolts went through her body, making her scream louder and thrashing harder instead of the expected submission. Heavy chains were put around her ankles, herself then flipped over to have more put on her wrists.
"CHIWI!!! GET OUT OF HERE!! DON'T LET THEM GET YOU!!" She screamed to be delivered a slap to the face. Nearly drained of energy, she was roughly yanked up by the chains on her wrists and then pushed roughly through the door. Pushed against the wall, Zairu was surrounded with one guard on each side while they waited for their two buddies to get Chiwi.
Bastards, you'll get what's coming to you. She thought angrily.

As she heard footsteps faintly approaching, Chiwi's ears twitched and her head snapped in the direction from which the people were approaching. The many sounds suggested that there were quite a few of them approaching, and rapidly as well. The murmuring that had grown as the group approached suddenly ceased as the pack halted.
Her hairs rising in fear, Chiwi ducked to the left of the door and curled her body up. Next door she heard the mumblings of what she could make out to be two different voices. Wincing as she heard her friend yelling, her heart quickened its pace.
Clenching her fists, her mind fought against her, threatening to flash back to the time of experimentation. She began to shake nervously as she heard her friend being forced into the hallway by the guards and the scientists headed her way.
The door swung open, and four scientists entered, with clipboards and pencils, jotting down various things. Chiwi's lip twitched in anger as she saw them, her tail swishing violently from side to side.
A feminine voice first spoke, saying: "This one also seems to be doing fairly well."
Another replied, "It appears that none of the previous side effects are appearing in this batch."
"I am Chiwi. You should refer to me by my name!" Chiwi abruptly shouted, jumping up suddenly.
"The next phase may begin now," yet another scientist said causally, as if nothing had happened.
The scientists slowly filed out of the room. Panting with rage, Chiwi coiled herself, then leaping on top of them. Slashing wildly, she bounced out of the room, to where Zairu was being held. After fighting off the guards with her friend's help they began running down the hall.
Pausing for a moment of breath, Chiwi grumbled, "Okay... now just pick a direction." Gesturing to the three different paths she turned to her friend.

Kei entered the village, looking around silently. Most of the villagers were silent, uncaring for him. He walked inwards, towards a small alley, where there was a door. He knocked on it gently, expecting an answer, but there was none. Figuring that if he asked where Reitsu was, none would answer, or they plain just didn't know, he headed towards the bar. All information in that village gathered there sooner or later.
As he opened the door, he felt several eyes find place among him. Sighing a little to himself, he sat at the bar silently. When a young female approached him to ask what he wished to drink, he merely looked up at her, ushering her away with his odd appearance. In these times, it was uncommon for someone to have eyes that changed from gray to green...or just a bionical eye. It was an odd procedure, and very strange indeed. Not only was his eye a problem, but people who have been manipulated had strange markings or obvious conditions. In Kei's case, it was his hair and eyes. Blue hair wasn't a normal color, and screamed out genetic manipulation if anything else.
Within a few minutes, a female walked in, again eyes drawing towards the door, a few whistles in the background. She apparently had no interest in anything, and walked up to the bar simply. Immediately she drew the attention of the young bartender, pounding both arms on the bar loudly.
"Y-ye-yes??" the waitress whimpered meekly, hiding behind a small metal tray. The lady stared at her for a minute, making sure she had her full attention.
"I need all the information you have on the whereabouts of two missing people from Klinel. Names, Chiwi and Zairu." the female spoke, sitting next to Kei without a word of warning to him. The waitress bowed weakly, running off to get the news terminal asked for.
As the waitress took time to find the correct one asked for, the female turned to look at Kei. Being on his right side, only his right eye was visible. The computer green of his eye shone through his hair, and as he leaned over a little to further collect his thoughts on newly received information, the hair swung forward revealing the eye clearly. White text flowed across rapidly, and she could occasionally catch a few of the words shown.
Kei had noticed she was staring at his eye, it was a common past time of the people who came across his path. He ignored her and passed through the information as it came by.
~ Seems like this time, the experiments are getting better. They've reached the final phase without a problem......Intriguing...yet sinful.~
"Hey, you." spoke the female, dragging Kei slowly back to reality. He looked up at her silently, his right eye changing back to a dull gray. She saw apparently, because almost as once she sat agast. He sighed, this too was a common procedure.
"...Yes?" he spoke lightly, his voice cold and having a slight feeling of dread, too light for human senses to grace upon.
"Your eye...it receives information doesn't it?" she asked, leaning in a little. Kei immediately leaned back a little, nodding once.
"Yes...It does..But why does that concern you?" he replied, motioning for the waitress to come near.
"I need a favor of you!" she pleaded, standing up and knocking the bar stool aside. Many stared at her, others shrugged and continued with their activities. Kei looked at her silently, then turned to the waitress.
"Miss, would you happen to know if the repairer in this village, Reitsu is in?" he asked her. She shook her head gently.
" Reitsu moved locale a few days ago. He's currenly in Zanenl as a repairer there. It's only a 56 minute walk from here. Due northeast."she replied. He nodded, standing up and placing a coin on the counter.
"Thank you." he spoke, and walked out, letting the female trail behind him for information...that she may never get.

Zairu dreaded what would happen as the scientists unlocked Chiwi's cell door and the two guards entered. The sounds that emanated made her heart leap as she peered around the guard and saw the scientists shriek and stumble over one another as they made their escape. Heavy thumps made her laugh aloud as she knew the guards failed in their attempts to catch Chiwi.
Seeing Chiwi running at them at full speed, the guard on Zairu's far side joined his partner in the front, their backs completely unguarded...
WHAM!
Zairu had swung the heavy chains, on her wrists, over her head and had brought them down hard on one of the guard's head. As he fell unconscious, the other guard foolishly took his eyes off Chiwi to turn toward Zairu. He was soon in the same state.
Ripping the chains off her wrists and ankles with surprising ease, she soon had the collar also off. Pocketing it for some odd reason, thinking that it might come in handy, she took off with Chiwi down the corridors that soon broke off into three different directions.
"Okay... now just pick a direction." Zairu heard her grumble before Chiwi turned her eyes on her.
"Uhh..." Zairu looked down each of the corridors. Her ears began twitching as it picked up sounds coming from each individually; even her nose began to twitch as it took in the scents that hovered.
The one on the left seemed to be a dead end, and it smelled strongly of ink (Zairu guessed they were offices) and the right side seemed to copy. The middle one, however, gave her the creeps--it seemed to go on forever, breaking off into different directions, but she thought she heard faint sounds of humming machines and smelled fresher air.
"Let's take door number two." She said just as the alarm went off to let personnel know that their "specimens" were escaping, "Let's go!" She tugged at her friends arm and they went racing down the hall.

"Let's go!" Chiwi heard her friend exclaim and suddenly she found that her friend was yanking her down the second hallway. Pulling her arm free, she ran beside her friend.
With the sirens going off around them, and red lights flashing, Chiwi found that her head began to throb slightly. Shaking her head a few times, she continued darting down a few passageways with her friend at her side.
They eventually hit a dead-end hallway, with two, metallic double doors opposite them. Pushing them open, the two came to a sliding stop in a large room. It was filled with computers, and other various scientific materials, all of which left Chiwi feeling clueless. The smell of the room itself reminded her of experimentation and she shuddered at the thought.
Looking around, she saw a man on the far end of the room wearing a white lab coat. He had been working away at a nearby computer when the pair barged in. Now Chiwi and Zairu found themselves to be the center of attention.
Tail twitching warily, Chiwi shouted, "Who are you?"
I bet he's one of them... one of the scientists who did this to us. If he is, I must have my revenge. With Zairu, we can easily overpower him.

The figure turned around, a man in his late 40s or early 50s. His hair was grey, mixed in with white, and his figure was slim for a guy his age. He smiled a most disturbing smile at Zairu and Chiwi.
"Well, well, if it isn't our "experiments"...How are you adapting to your new features.." he spoke, voice cold and filled with a soft irony. He walked over to a small lift which lifted him to a small pedestal attached to the side wall. The lift went down immediately as he stepped off, and walked up to see them. He smiled again, typing something on the computer there.
"Begin analysis..."

Kei ignored all the girl was saying to him, after a minute of her incessant whining and complaining it had gotten to be very annoying. She had said something about "fair play" as in him giving her information and she could do something for him. Bodyguard maybe? But who would dare kill Kei? Because he was genetically modified? It was obvious yes, but if someone did try to take his life...in reality he would welcome it. If it were possible.
After a while of listening to her whining he finally gave in.
"Alright fine! I'll cooperate, just shut the hell up already! Gah......" Kei burst, before explaining that he had a few things to attend to before he could help her out. He paid for her hotel room before wandering off to find Reitsu once they had reached the village.
He found the repair shop, and knocked on the door somewhat loudly. Immediately he heard a shuffling of items being moved out of the way...So like Reitsu to clean up at the last minute. The door swung open and there stood Reitsu, hair only partially brushed, and clothes stained with black grease. He smiled when he saw who was at the door.
"Kei-kun!!!~ I haven't seen you since you were a little boy!!!! " He cried out, hugging Kei to the point where it was hard to breath. Kei coughed out a little, squirming slightly.
"Can we do this at a later time? I need the coordinates to Noikero's lab...." Kei sputtered, through cracked breaths. Reitsu put him down and ushered him into a personal transporter.
"My, down to business aren't we? Well then, let me just send ya there~ Best of luck...to whatever you're going to do. Make sure to come visit me!!!" Reitsu finished, closing the door and imputing coordinates on the computer terminal for the machine. Within seconds the demateriliazation had begun and Kei felt his body torn apart atom by atom....a process he had gotten used to.

When Chiwi first laid eyes on him, she could tell that she despised this man, but the more he smiled, the more contempt she seemed to hold for him. Her tail swished rapidly from side to side and she clenched her fists in anger.
"Well, well, if it isn't our "experiments"...How are you adapting to your new features.." she heard him say. Jumping forward slightly, she spat at him, "We have names, you know! For the humanity of it, call us by them! Or do you have no respect for human life?"
However, her statement went ignored, and the scientist began to type away at the computer. With an evil smile he said, "Begin analysis..." and Chiwi froze.
However, she did not stay frozen for long, she began to shake; not knowing what was coming next filled her with a fear she had never known before. Desperately, she screamed, "What analysis?! What more could you possibly want from us?"

Zairu's eyes narrowed dangerously at the scientist, her ears laying completely flat against her head, as he descended down to them. Just like the other scientists, he referred to them as "experiments".
"We have names, you know! For the humanity of it, call us by them! Or do you have no respect for human life?" Chiwi screamed out next to her, voicing her own thoughts. Zairu looked concernedly at her friend, her whole body was shaking in rage that was quite unlike the Chiwi she'd known before this had happened.
But the scientist did not seem to care what Chiwi said; he felt no remorse to what he and his fellow scientists had done to them. In fact, he wanted to continue on with the little "pet project" and subject them both to more experimentations. It made Zairu's blood boil.
Suddenly a smell flared up and she instinctively knew what it was, though she had never smelled it before, fear. True fear. Not the fear that made your heart leap for a few seconds from someone shouting "Boo!" for behind a tree. This fear was the fear that made your mind numb, feel frigidly cold right in the middle of your stomach, that took control of your whole body. This was the fear that could soon be driven into a full panic attack.
Done by two simple words: begin analysis
"What analysis?! What more could you possibly want from us?" Chiwi screamed.
Zairu couldn't speak, the rage that coursed through her had closed her throat. She closed her eyes, she needed to keep calm, but the rapidness that her breath was taking was making it hard. If she panicked now, or lost control of her temper, then she'd be no help to Chiwi.
But as she opened her eyes again at looked at the man who had helped do this to them, her blood boiled. She hated the sight of him, the smell, the way he stared haughtily down at them. She flexed her claws in one hand, thinking how sweet it would be to slash and close them around his throat.
"That bastard...wants our lives..." She spoke in labored breaths, trying to keep calm, "Wants to use us for his own twisted purposes...then throw us away when we're no longer useful...like garbage..."
She looked at Chiwi, a murderous glint in her eye and a smile that glinted sharp canines, "But dammit, we won't let him do that will we?"
Her eyes moving to the scientist she said softly, "You made a huge mistake in doing this to us. We will make you pay."

"Names? What is this foolishness? Names are meaningless in a world where millions lie. " the doctor replied to the both of them. He stopped looking down at the computer screen, where a red box had appeared warning him of Kei's arrival. He typed in a few commands and looked back up at them. "Well well seems like our other experiment will be joining us. Please do welcome him once he arrives." he finished, pointing down at the transporter in the corner of the room.
From the transporter came a shrill beeping noise, signaling the arrival of another. Normally a transporter's main light remains green to signal a completely safe transfer, but in this case the light began to flash a bright red. From inside the transporter came a loud, and painful scream, and soon the doors began to open....
But what came out was neither human nor animal.....
